Hikes from 1 hour to 6 hours are easily reached with the network of scheduled water taxis. Pack a picnic and a bird & flora guide and walk a section of track, returning by boat to Kaiteriteri or Marahau. Allow time to relax on the golden beaches.
Abel Tasman has a large marine reserve and stunning turquoise waters. A boat based day, usually combined with a short hike or swimming is a relaxing way to see the park.
For the adventurous, Abel Tasman has great canyoning trips. For the more sedate, take a scenic flight and lunch at Awaroa Lodge.

Depart at 10am and cruise into deserted bays away from the crowds. Hop off for a swim or try your hand at kayaking in shallow waters. After a delicious buffet lunch, walk over the headland to the next bay. With a maximum of 4 couples, this trip is a delight.
Pack a picnic and catch the 9:00 or 10:30 water taxi from Kaiteriteri / Marahau and walk 1 - 6 hours, stop for a swim and return by a 3:45 or 4:45 water taxi.
Alternatively, stay on board for a leisurely cruise or for lunch at Awaroa Lodge and a short stroll.
Catch a 9:00am boat from Kaiteri and cruise to Onetahuti passing Split Apple Rock and seal colonies. Hop off and walk 90 minutes to Bark Bay. Lunch on Bark Bay then kayak to Anchorage Bay with the sea-breeze behind you. Catch the 3:45 water taxi or spend an extra hour on the beach at the end.
Spend the day on a boat based trip into the Abel Tasman, enter creeks and inlets, fossic in rock pools, learn about conservaton project Janzoom, hike through bush and have lunch on one of the best beaches in the world. 16 people max.
Depart at 08:30 from Marahau and take a fast boat to Onetahuti. Kayak around the marine reserve seal colony and up into small inlets and to desserted beaches. Lunch at Bark Bay before the afternoon leg from Bark Bay to Anchorage Bay. Return by boat to Marahau.
