Adrian was born in Australia with a New Zealand mother. His family have been involved with small business and restaurants most of their lives. Kayla is French-Canadian with a strong background in hospitality. They have been working together, first in Canada, then near Cairns where Adrian was a dive instructor. Both are keen marine conservationists and last year they moved to New Zealand as assistant managers at a Lodge on North Island. They enjoy outdoors activities, travel and nature. They love the challenges of running a Lodge and meeting a wide range of guests from around the globe.
The Resurgence is the result of many years dreaming and planning. We returned to New Zealand in 2003 to start up this new concept in accommodation. Our objective was to create a place to relax - a friendly atmosphere, a supurb natural setting with five star comforts plus a high degree of privacy & personal space. Many aspects of the lodge are based on Gite d‘Etapes we stayed in whilst living in France, which provide walkers, cyclists and other lovers of the outdoors good value accommodation and great regional cooking.
16 years on, the grounds have matured and we have created an internationally reknowned business we are proud of.
We love helping visitors, both Kiwis and guests from overseas, to get out and enjoy the beautiful New Zealand countryside. We are keen travellers ourselves, and have lived and worked in the UK, France, Asia, US and Australaisia. Both of us are active in local conservation and sustainable toursim, through Friends of Flora and Tasman Bay Guardians community conservation groups, Business Mentoring and Green Journeys. To help off-set carbon emissions at the Lodge, we plant a tree for every couple who stay and have trapping lines around the Lodge to reduce unwelcome predators to our native birds. Peter loves walking and bird-watching and Clare is a keen cook; both of us enjoy cycling, kayaking and overseas travel.
Our small and friendly team, in partrnership with some great local activity operators, artisan food and wine producers and our friendly local birdlife, work hard to ensure everything is perfect for your stay. We hope you will agree that a stay at The Resurgence is so much more than an accommodation, it is an experience in itself.
