The Kahurangi is a pristine wilderness area and best visited with a guide to point out its many unique features. Missed by the ice-age, there are many plants unique to this park, like the unusual dracophylum. Varied terrain from beech forest to tussocks with kaast limestone features. Stunning views above the tree line.
The 2-3 hour Mt Arthur Hut - Flora Hut loop or the 5-6 hour climb to the summit are accessible to any experienced trampers. Good jackets and boots are required. We can provide maps, bird and plant guides and picnics.
Mt Owen & Mt Olympus both feature in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Helicopter flights can take you to these spots or over to any of the Golden Bay locations.
